Yeah, what about that? It’s an interesting dish that challenged my imagination, spurred my creativity, and led me to bring home – and use – an ice cream maker.
In a nutshell, that’s why I created this blog and underscores my three operating principles:
- You don’t know if you’ll like it until you try it
- There is always room for improvement
- A mind – and kitchen equipment – is a terrible thing to waste
I hope to flex my culinary muscles, put my gadgets through their paces, and figure out how to share all this digitally.
Watch this space over the next year. I’m going to delve into some cooking and food concepts by focusing for a period of time on a specific tool or food item and then moving on the next. I’m starting with frozen things and the personal challenge of posting something every day in July.
From there I’m moving into one of several things that will include a foamer, waffle iron, meat grinder, pressure cooker or a sous vide wand. I’d like to move beyond the obvious and figure out how to push the gadgets and what interesting combos I can come up with. I’d love it if half the things I cook are tasty and hope you’ll enjoy reading about it. BTW, I’m happy to take comments on which gadget should go next. For frozen things I’m looking at sweet, savory, alcoholic, canine, weird, whatever I can come up with (I have a list 150 ideas so far).
The other thing I want to do is learn how to use these new-fangled (to me) digital tools. The first computer I used was housed in its own cooling trailer and used paper punch cards. Because I had to use them, today I’m reasonably proficient, if not scrappy, in email and most office functions. Analogously, I have personal FB and Instagram accounts but I’m merely a lurker who really only knows how to view photos of family and friends and is more intimidated than in control. I plan to learn these tools by using them. I’d welcome any comments on how to improve this site as I go along. I plan to keep improving this site and adding more facets, maybe even moving to youtube or something else. Woo hoo.
Thank you for stopping by!
I promise a better pic at some point. but this is the only one I have now. Me and Mo.
